We are aware that the decisions that we make now will

All Maroon are aware of the need to increase the Acting Colonel Charles Town Maroons
knowledge of the history and culture of our people.
This is how we can learn to sustain ourselves into the
future. Healthy land, healthy water, healthy people.

Our Taino and African forefathers and foremothers
lived very well from the land. The way they grew their
own food and gathered from the forest and used what
they had for herbal remedies, clothing and utensils has
been passed down to us. This is the knowledge that we
can build on into the future. Our plan is to broaden this
knowledge base to make a sustainable development
for the Maroon people of Charles Town.
