Drummers & Dancers

The Charles Town Maroon Drummers and Dancers based at the Asafu Yard in  Charles Town, Portland Jamaica, are a performing arts group showcasing the traditions and cultural practices of the Charles Town Maroon community.  The members are drawn from the surrounding Maroon community and have been entertaining and educating the public  for several years. 


Charles Town Maroon Dancers and Drummers have performed extensively across the island and internationally. Their local appearances include  the Annual International Charles Town Maroon Conference and Festival; national and parish level Emancipation and  Independence Day celebrations; Festivals including – the Coffee Festival, Portland Jerk Festival, Denbigh Agricultural Show, Blue and John Crow Mountains National Park Misty Bliss and Long Bay Tambo Fest.

They have also performed overseas in Accra Ghana; Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago; Toronto, Ottawa, and Halifax in Canada.
