A ten‐member Charles Town Maroon Drummers, led by Col. Frank Lumsden, are in Canada to commemorate both the 175th Anniversary of Emancipation and the 47th Anniversary of Jamaica’s Independence. They have performed in Ottawa at the Centrepointe “Council Chambers” on 31 July, and in Toronto at Harbourfront on 1 August and at JAMBABA on 3 August. They are now in Halifax with the following schedule: Halifax: 5 August‐ welcoming reception and one performance at the Maritime Museum. Halifax: 6 August‐ one performance on the grounds of the Citadel and a workshop at the Maritime Museum. Preston: 7 August‐ one performance and one workshop. Halifax port: 8 August‐ interaction with crew of “AMISTAD” in “Tall Ships Festival”; interaction with Jamaican community association. Dartmouth: 9 August‐ workshop. They will return home on 10 August.
